Ancestors of Almira Keith (Turner) Tilson.
TURNER.
Of Norman-French origin. Was in England as early as 1067, date
of the Norman Conquest, when "Le Sire de-Tourneur" accompanied
King William in his expedition.
HUMPHREY1 TURNER, born in England, probably Devonshire, and
sailed perhaps from Holland with his family, arriving in Plymouth,
N. E., 1628. He was a tanner. A house lot was assigned to him
in 1629 in Scituate, and built a house in which he probably lived
in 1633. His wife, Lydia Gamer, was born in England and died before
1673, in Scituate, N. E. Humphrey Turner was among the
earliest and most efficient in the settlement of Scituate. He represented
the town several years as deputy to the General Court. Was
a commissioner, constable, etc. He was possessed of that judgment,
discretion, energy and perseverance of character, which eminently
fitted him to be one of the pioneers in beginning and carrying forward
a new settlement. He died in Scituate in 1673.

Nathaniel Turner, b. (???); bp. March 10, 1638-9, at Scituate, N. E.
JOHN TURNER2, (Humphrey1) son of Humphrey and Lydia
(Gamer) Turner, b. 1624-5; m. Ann James, April 25, 1649. He d.
at Scituate, 1687. They lived northeast of Hicks' swamp, south of
the harbor.

Hudson.
Ann Turner, b. Feb. 23, 1652, in Scituate, N. E.; m. Joseph Greene.
