Notes

Peter Staples was at Kittery, Maine, as early as 1669. Ridlon states in his History of Saco Valley Families that he was known as Peter, Junior. Grace Bischoff, in her study of Swans Island families, also lists him as "Junior."  Peter Staples will, dated 6 June 1718, lists him as being "aged."

Peter Staple had a grant in 1661 and bought land from Thomas Turner on Long Reach in 1674. Highway surveyor in 1673, Constable for lower Kittery in 1676, tavern license in 1704, 1706 to 1709. 2820. Francis Baker

Came to Boston in 1635 aboard the ship "Planter".Francis emigrated from England with documents issued by authorities in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England. Suffolk County is on the eastern coast of Britian, north-northeast of London, while Hertfordshire County is immediately north of London. It is possible that Francis moved to Hertfordshire County and lived there before he decided to go to America. It is also possible that he merely picked up his emigration documents in St. Albans, before boarding the ship.
Francis Baker is on the ship passenger list of the PLANTER (ship's captain Nicholas Trarice), which sailed from London, England in April 1635 and arrived in Boston, Massachusetts on Sunday, 7 Jun 1635.
It is said that Francis Baker and Isabel Twining were ancestors of Winston Churchill, but this has not been confirmed.

His Will was dated 1707, and he d. Mar. 21, 1708-9, 'an aged man,' leaving widow Elizabeth. His inventory included pounds 171.5.6.
