Subject: The Meaning of the surname Spooner IP: Logged
Message: The surname Spooner, well in my case does not derive from the meaning (Spoon makers) but from the Anglo/Saxon term Spon which meant someone who covered roofs with wooden shingles.
Later under Scandinavian influence this name was also said as Spoon, Spoone, Spahn and Spohn.
PS sorry if this has been brought up before.
Oh yeah and the Original Spooner coat of arms is the coat of arms we use, This coat of arms Originates from King Richard the III who used a boar as his battle standard, the blue shield behind the Boars head meant that we served as infantry in his army, The Boars head was later made to look as if it had been severed and decorated with blood drop lets because King Henry Tudor the VII had behead King Richard the III during the battle of Bosworth Field.
Just though I let you know.
